The most fundamental of these differences are immediately visible to the player. While 75-ball bingo is played with a square card of 25 blocks, the 90-ball version is played with a ‘ticket’. This is a smaller version of a card, with three rows each consisting of nine columns. Furthermore, while 75-ball bingo involves all but one of the squares being filled, in 90-ball each row will incorporate five numbers and four blanks.

As with 75-ball bingo, this version of the game takes its name from the range of numbers which can appear on the card. 90-ball bingo is played with a ‘strip’; that is, a collection of six tickets, each of which is played through simultaneously. As a result of the size of the tickets, a strip of six ensures that every number between 1 and 90 will appear once.

In 90-ball bingo, prizes are awarded incrementally, depending on the difficulty of the task completed. The first prize to be given is known as the ‘1st line’, and is offered to the first player to cross off an entire row of squares. There is also a prize for the first player to fill two entire rows. The ultimate prize in 90-ball bingo, however, is the ‘full house’. This is the bingo jackpot, and is awarded to the first player to fill three entire rows on a single ticket.
